The deadline for a decision on Phoenix Suns point guard Tyler Ulis’ contract status has been extended until next Saturday.

In a tweet from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, league sources have said that the guarantee date on Ulis’ contract was scheduled for Sunday, but will be extended by six days.

It gives the Suns some extra time to decide what to do at the point guard position.

They currently have four players under contract at the position with Brandon Knight, Shaquille Harrison, Ulis and newly drafted Elie Okobo.

With four new additions to the roster following the NBA Draft and cap space to add a player in free agency, the Suns are looking at a young, crowded roster.

Either way, the extension gives the team a little more flexibility and time to make a decision on the third-year ball handler out of Kentucky.

Ulis averaged 23.4 minutes per game in 71 games last season, five minutes and 10 more games than 2016-17.

He has a career 4.1-1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio and averaged 1.0 steals per game in 2017-18.
