It’s been somewhat of an up-and-down road trip for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

But one constant has remained the same in first baseman Paul Goldschmidt.

With a walk in the first inning against the San Diego Padres on Sunday, Goldy set a new club record, reaching base safely in 10 straight plate appearances.

D-backs fans might have deja vu as the first baseman was the last member of the franchise to reach base safely in nine straight appearances in 2017.

Through eight road games, Goldschmidt is hitting .515 from the plate (17-33) with a 1.560 OPS to go along with eight extra base hits, including four long balls, and 10 RBI. He’s slugging 1.000.

On the year, Goldschmidt is hitting .292 with 28 home runs and 71 RBI.

Four of those RBI came off four swings of the bat in Saturday night’s loss to the Padres.

It was Goldy’s 20th career four-RBI game, tying Steve Finley for 2nd most in franchise history.

But that wasn’t all.

He also had his 14th career four-hit game, breaking a tie with David Peralta for the most in D-backs history.

“Paul’s Paul and it’s almost amazing his average is getting close to .300,” D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said after Saturday’s game. “It’s been a steady climb with consistent at-bats and just Paul doing the thing that he’s done all of his career.”

All good things must come to an end, however, as Goldschmidt failed to reach base safely in the third inning of Sunday’s game.

He finished the game going 1-for-3 with two walks.
