Randall Delgado has been selected from the Triple-A Reno Aces in a corresponding move as Clay Buchholz was placed on the 60-day disabled list, ending the 34-year-old veteran’s season.

Delgado has played in 267 career games over eight seasons in the MLB including a stint with the Braves in 2011-12. He has been in the D-backs organization since 2013 and his 19 wins as a reliever with the D-backs rank third all-time behind only Brad Ziegler and Byung-Hyun Kim.

He has appeared in six games for the D-backs this season posting a 5.14 ERA and a 2-0 record with two strikeouts in 7.0 innings.

In Reno, Delgado made one start over 13 appearances. He was 0-1 with 14 strikeouts in 18.0 innings pitched.

The move ends Buchholz’s debut season in Arizona as he finished with a 7-2 record with a 2.01 ERA and 81 strikeouts over 16 starts since being called up on May 20.

Buchholz was scratched from his most recent scheduled start against the Colorado Rockies with a right elbow flexor strain.

Ironically, Delgado was sent to Reno to make room for Buchholz’s original inclusion on the big league roster.
