It was a rough first couple of innings for Arizona Diamondbacks starter Luke Weaver in his team debut, but he quickly made up for it.

Weaver homered off Dodgers reliever Pedro Baez in the fourth inning for his first career home run in an eventual 8-7 loss Sunday in Los Angeles.

The two-run shot capped off a seven-run fourth inning for the D-backs, who erased a four-run deficit.

Weaver hasn’t been a poor hitter in his three-year MLB career — he’s hit .200 in 82 plate appearances — but the home run was his first extra-base hit.

Arizona’s seven-run fourth inning tied a franchise record for the most runs in an inning at Dodger Stadium.

The runs were especially important considering Weaver allowed five runs himself through four innings. Four were earned, and the starting pitcher closed having thrown 4.1 innings, striking out three and walking two.
