Diamondbacks third baseman Eduardo Escobar was named the National League Player of the Week on Monday for hitting .480 over a six-game stretch.
Escobar launched three home runs and accounted for eight RBI with a 1.573 OPS as Arizona went 4-2 to wrap a road sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates and three-game series against the Chicago Cubs at home.
He hit a pair of home runs Sunday in a 6-5 loss to Chicago that went 15 innings.
It marks the second player of the week honor for Escobar, who won it last season as a member of the Minnesota Twins.
For the season, Escobar is batting .286/.367/.514. He has 30 hits in 28 games, including seven doubles, a triple, five home runs and 17 RBI.
New York Yankees slugger Luke Voit took home the American League Player of the Week award as his team went 6-1 behind his slash line of .433/.528/.867.
Voit and Escobar will square off across from one another starting Tuesday as New York visits Chase Field to begin a two-game series.
