If there is one thing you can say about the Phoenix Suns, it’s that they are quick learners.

After poor second halves doomed them against the Memphis Grizzlies and Sacramento Kings to begin their five-game homestand, dominant second halves propelled the Suns to victories in their last two games, including Wednesday night against the Brooklyn Nets.

Phoenix trailed by 14 points entering halftime, but turned the tide when the third quarter began, starting the half with a 9-0 run. The Suns chipped away at Brooklyn’s advantage until taking the lead for good with 4:48 remaining in the game.

Behind Gerald Green’s 28 points and Isaiah Thomas’ 21, the Suns defeated the Nets 112-104.

The Suns improved to 5-3 on the season with their second victory in a row. The Suns will have a chance to make their current homestand a winning one with a victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Friday.

Here’s a look at Wednesday’s win by the numbers:

5

Phoenix snapped a five-game losing streak against the Nets with Wednesday’s win. Five appears to be the Suns’ lucky number as they snapped Golden State’s five-game winning streak on Sunday.

19

The Suns trailed by as much as 19 points during Wednesday’s game, but managed to come out with the victory. Finding ways to win is a great trait for any team and it appears the Suns are developing that trait.

34

Phoenix scored a whopping 34 points in the fourth quarter, outscoring Brooklyn by 14 points. The Suns gave up a three-pointer as time expired in the third quarter and came into the fourth down six points.

27.5

Brooklyn could not get shots to fall in a brutal second half for them. The Suns played strong defensively, limiting the Nets’ shooting percentage to 27.5 after halftime.

60-27

Bench scoring was a huge key to Phoenix’s victory. The Suns bench put up 60 points on Wednesday, dwarfing Brooklyn’s total of 27. In addition to Green’s 28 points and Thomas’ 21, P.J. Tucker contributed six points and Alex Len scored five.

18-4

The Suns went on a 18-4 run to begin the second half to tie the game. Phoenix never looked back.

27

Markieff Morris was a magnificent +27 on the floor against the Nets — far and away better than any other player. Morris finished the night with nine points, five rebounds and three assists.
