Nevada transfer and former five-star recruit Jordan Brown committed to the Arizona basketball program Friday, he announced on Twitter.

Brown picked Arizona after visiting Arizona State and St. Mary’s. The 2018 McDonald’s All-American received interest from numerous other schools but ultimately felt comfortable with Arizona’s staff and liked what his role could become in head coach Sean Miller’s offense.

“Some of the things I really liked about my time up there was building a relationship with coach [Sean] Miller and the rest of the staff,” Brown told 247 Sports’ Evan Daniels. “The weather out there was nice. I like the way he plays, and the freedom that he gives his bigs in the post and away from the post.

“It’s not too far from home and is a good distance if my family and friends want to come up and make it to some games.”

The Roseville, Calif., product played a minor role as a freshman for a deep Nevada team in 2018-19.

He averaged 3.0 points and 2.1 rebounds per game, shooting 51% from the field. While Brown played 10.1 minutes per outing, he appeared in 33 games.

The 6-foot-11, 210-pound Brown will sit out this coming season due to NCAA transfer rules. For the 2020-21 season, he would be part of a frontcourt that could include incoming freshmen Zeke Nnaji and center Christian Koloko.

Arizona had recruited Brown out of high school.

The Wildcats would be one player over the scholarship limit of 13 for this coming season if Brown takes a scholarship.
