Suns free agent sniper Troy Daniels agrees to deal with Lakers

Guard Troy Daniels has agreed to join the revamped Los Angeles Lakers, his agent confirmed to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
The contract will pay $2.1 million over a single season, Charania added.
Daniels, an unrestricted free agent, spent the last two seasons backing up starting guard Devin Booker with the Phoenix Suns, appearing in 130 of the team’s 164 regular season games and averaging 7.9 points while shooting 39% from three-point range.
The 27-year-old joins a roster void of talent at the present.

The Lakers remain in flux with only LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Kyle Kuzma locked into contracts for next season. While the Lakers have qualifying offers out for a few restricted free agents, the team has kept most of its salary cap space open as it hopes to lure one of the few star free agents remaining on the market, Kawhi Leonard, away from the Toronto Raptors and other suitors, including the Los Angeles Clippers.
Daniels was acquired by Phoenix from Memphis in a deal that also swapped second-round picks in September 2017.
He put together a career-high of 32 points in December 2017 during a loss to the Toronto Raptors and a month prior to that tied the Suns’ franchise mark by hitting six three-pointers in a quarter against the Houston Rockets.
