Phoenix Rising FC forward Joey Calistri has been named to USL Championship’s Week 30 Team of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
This is Calistri’s second time and the 21st overall week that a Rising player has been recognized by the league this season.
Calistri notched a brace and completed 13 of 16 passes (81%) — two of which were key passes — in Saturday’s 2-2 draw away to New Mexico United.
As a result, Phoenix was crowned regular-season champions and has home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, which would also include the USL Cup Final.
With Rising trailing 2-0, Calistri came on in the 62nd minute and scored both of the team’s goals in the last 20 minutes of the match, including a 90th-minute equalizer just moments after Phoenix hit the crossbar twice.

This isn’t the first time Calistri has come up in the clutch as a substitute this season, dubbing him as a “super-sub.”
He also had a late game-winner just minutes after coming on to complete another two-goal comeback in a 3-2 win over LA Galaxy II on Aug. 3 which saw him receive an honorable mention in USL’s Week 22 Team of the Week.
Phoenix Rising returns to action on Saturday in its final road game of the season away to 12th-place Portland Timbers 2. Phoenix defeated Portland 4-2 in their last matchup at Casino Arizona Field on June 29.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and will be audio-streamed on ArizonaSports.com.
