Defensive lineman Zach Kerr signed with the Arizona Cardinals on Wednesday, filling the team’s need for a backup nose tackle.

Kerr has 63 games of experience with nine starts and played for Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph with the Denver Broncos from 2017-18.

Last season, the 29-year-old tackle recorded a career-high 33 tackles with 1.5 sacks.

The Cardinals had a void behind starting tackle Corey Peters after releasing undrafted rookie Miles Brown on Tuesday. Arizona cut Brown and signed receiver Pharoh Cooper amid a rash of injuries to slot receivers Christian Kirk (ankle) and Damiere Byrd (hamstring).

Peters will be sandwiched between ends Rodney Gunter and Jonathan Bullard as starters, but Arizona could be without some depth as rookie end Zach Allen is working through a stinger injured suffered Sunday.

Kerr entered the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts in 2014 as an undrafted rookie out of Delaware. He appeared in 12 games during each of his first three years in the league with the Colts before his two-year run under Joseph, who was the head coach in Denver.

The 6-foot-2, 334-pound tackle has 116 tackles, 7.5 sacks and four passes defensed in his career.
