The Arizona Cardinals officially activated cornerback Patrick Peterson to the 53-man roster on Saturday.

In a corresponding move, the team also placed offensive lineman Brett Toth on the non-football injury list due to illness.

Peterson missed the first six games of the Cardinals’ 2019 campaign after violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy.

He will be aiding a defense that has been one of the league’s worst, especially a banged-up secondary that has been forced to play three rookies at times.

The Cardinals have allowed 281.2 passing yards per game this year (No. 30 in the NFL).

But perhaps the most glaring metrics are the number of passing touchdowns Arizona has allowed and the lack of interceptions the team has forced.

Through six games, the Cardinals have allowed 16 touchdown passes (most in the league) and have an abysmal zero interceptions.

They are the only team in the NFL to not have a pick this season.

Peterson, 29, has made the Pro Bowl every year of his eight-year career and has accumulated 23 interceptions and 102 passes defensed in his 128 appearances for Arizona, all of which have been starts.

The All-Pro cornerback has said that he wants to be the one to get the Cardinals’ first pick of the year.
