Before the inactives for the Arizona Cardinals against the New Orleans Saints dropped, two key players for both sides were ruled out, according to a report.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Johnson will not play Sunday due to an ankle injury. In addition to missing Sunday’s game, Johnson is also expected to miss Thursday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Additionally, Schefter reported that Saints RB Alvin Kamara would not play either.
Kamara was listed as questionable on the final injury report. He’s expected to come back after New Orlean’s bye week next week.
Johnson was active against the New York Giants and saw just three snaps last week. Johnson’s dealt with ankle and back issues this season, but has still be productive, recording 300 yards and two scores on 77 carries.
He paces all rushers in yards and carries and trails only backup Chase Edmonds in rushing touchdowns (4). In the passing game, Johnson’s caught 30 of his 41 targets for 315 yards and three scores. He trails only WR Larry Fitzgerald in receptions (36), targets (55) and yards (439).
During the past week, the Cardinals added running back depth by signing Alfred Morris and Zach Zenner.
