The Arizona Diamondbacks made a few decisions Thursday morning.

After naming Matt Herges as the team’s new pitching coach, Arizona looked to its roster, declining club options on infielder Wilmer Flores and reliever T.J. McFarland.

Flores, 28, was in his first season with the Diamondbacks after playing the first six years of his career with the Mets. Flores wasn’t an everyday player and got only 265 at bats in, but in that time hit .317 with nine home runs and 37 RBI with an .848 OPS.

Flores’ OPS was the second-highest on the D-backs among players who had at least 200 plate appearances, second only to Ketel Marte.

McFarland pitched 51 games for the D-backs, registering a 4.82 ERA pitching mostly long relief or low-leverage situations. He had a 1.625 WHIP in his third year with the team, having previously pitched four seasons for the Orioles.

Additionally, the team outrighted outfielder Abraham Almonte and left-hander Robby Scott to Triple-A Reno.

Scott was acquired in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds in December of 2018. In 11 games played with the D-backs this season, the pitcher threw 7.1 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, while striking out nine. He finished the season with a 1-0 record.

Almonte joined the D-backs after playing for four teams over parts of six MLB seasons. In 17 games (38 plate appearances) with Arizona, the outfielder recorded nine hits, four RBIs and seven walks, averaging .290 from the plate. He also added a homer and a .421 OBP and .548 SLG.
