The NBA All-Star Weekend has been filled with impressive 3-point shooting, thunderous dunks and impeccable skills.
But unlike previous years, there’s a somber side to the weekend’s festivities, as it’s the first one without Los Angles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant. The guard died tragically along with eight others, including his daughter Gigi, in January.
To honor Kobe and his mark on the game, the NBA announced Saturday the All-Star Game MVP award would be named after the former NBA guard.
In addition to the official renaming, the league decided to wear the Nos. 24 and 2, Kobe and Gigi’s respective jersey numbers.
Players and celebrities also took it upon themselves to pay tribute to Kobe in some way over the weekend, including Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker.

Ahead of Sunday night’s All-Star Game, Booker was seen donning a custom sweater honoring Kobe and Gigi.
The front shows the Lakers logo with “Kobe” and “Gigi” written on red ribbons in front of the L.A. skyline. The back has “forever” in large print with a black mamba coiled around a rose.
The word “father” can be seen on the snake, and the bottom of the sweater has both Kobe and Gigi’s initials. And the custom Kobe gear wouldn’t be complete without the word “Mamba.”

This isn’t the first time Booker has repped Kobe in some way.
The night of Bryant’s passing, Booker was seen wearing Kobe sneakers against the Memphis Grizzlies with the words, “Be Legendary” on the shoes. The phrase comes from a pair of basketball shoes Kobe gifted Booker soon after playing each other.

There’s no doubt the Mamba Mentality is coursing through the Suns guard and the rest of the All-Stars on the court Sunday night.
