Bloomquist waiting for September to look at scoreboards

Willie Bloomquist hasn’t started scoreboard watching – yet.

“It’s great that the fans are behind us and watching and keeping up,” Diamondbacks’ utility player Willie Bloomquist said in a Thursday interview with Sports 620 KTAR’s Gambo and Ash. “I think that’s what it’s all about. But on the players’ side we just have to stay focused.”

The D-backs sure have been focused as of late. They’ve won 16 of their last 20 games and haven’t lost a series since the second week of May against the Giants.

Oh, and they also took over the lead in the NL West.

While the way the D-backs are playing may have some fans whispering of that legendary 2001 season, Bloomquist doesn’t want to get ahead of himself.
