Inside the Box: Kennedy gets career-high 10 wins

After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and
provide you with instant analysis. So it’s time to go
Inside the Box for July
16, 2011: Diamondbacks 3, Dodgers 2
The Good:
Ian Kennedy has had a great season so far, and he got a well-deserved win Saturday night. In his seven innings, he gave up five hits and only two earned runs. Kemp was able to grab a homer off of Kennedy, but that looked to be his only errant pitch of the game. He walked one and struck out seven.
Kennedy’s win was his career-high tenth of the season. He know holds a 10-3 record.
The Bad:
For as good as Kennedy was throwing the ball, the D-backs bats struggled to give him run support. They only managed two put together five hits for a total of three runs. The D-backs two representatives in the All-Star game, Justin Upton and Miguel Montero, combined for a total of one hit. Maybe that break let some of the D-backs hitters get a little rusty.
The Funky:
None of the four runs the D-backs scored against the
Dodgers were earned.
