ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS

So, looks like the D-backs won the Daniel Hudson trade

On July 30th, 2010, the Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago White Sox consumated a trade in which Daniel Hudson and David Holmberg heading to the Valley and Edwin Jackson making his way to the Windy City.

Not even one full year later, it is obvious who won that trade. Give you a hint: their name rhymes with shmimondbacks.

“That trade was such a good trade for the Arizona Diamondbacks,” John Gambadoro said on Sports 620 KTAR’s Gambo and Ash show. Gambo wasn’t even talking so much about Hudson as much as he was what Holmberg could become.

Still, the amazing thing is what the Diamondbacks gave up — or, rather, didn’t give up to get the two.

“So you’re saying [the D-backs] got Holmberg…and they got a future 16, maybe 18 game winner in Daniel Hudson, and [the White Sox] got Edwin Jackson,” Mark Asher said on the show.

Well, when you put it that way, the D-backs did do pretty well for themselves with that trade.

“It could end up being one of those railroad, just runaway trades that goes down as a great heist,” Asher said.

Anybody disagree with that assessment? Didn’t think so.
