Diamondbacks get down but they’re never out

Aug 12, 2011, 11:02 PM | Updated: Aug 13, 2011, 12:17 am

The Arizona Diamondbacks took three of four games from the Houston Astros this week, needing late rallies for two of the wins.

Such has often been the case for the 2011 D-backs, as they’ve shown great resiliency on the way to taking over first place in the NL West.

“Come from behind wins are probably one of the most rewarding things for a team,” D-backs Manager Kirk Gibson said. “Those are the kinds of things that we need to experience.

“It validates a lot of things that we talked about.”

Granted, the Diamondbacks would probably prefer to take the lead early and keep it, but sometimes things don’t work out that way. Thus, it’s important for the team to have confidence that they are in it until the 27th out.
