After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and
provide you with instant analysis. So it’s time to go
Inside the Box for
August 24, 2011: Diamondbacks 4, Nationals 2
The Good:
Daniel Hudson followed Ian Kennedy’s strong performance
with one of his own, coming within one out of a complete
game. He allowed nine hits and two runs while striking out
six.
Miguel Montero’s 8th inning single scored what proved to
be the winning runs.
The Bad:
It was unfortunate that Hudson was not able to finish the
complete game shutout. He got within one out of finishing
the game before allowing back-to-back solo home runs to
Laynce Nyx and Jonny Gomes.
The Funky:
J.J. Putz came on to record the fantasy baseball player’s
dream, the one-out save. It is the 32nd game Putz has
locked down for the D-backs this season.
