D-backs Miguel Montero is doing all the right things

Miguel Montero is doing everything right.
He’s fielding his position, throwing runners out and now has hit safely in a season-high nine straight games (.352, 12-for-34).
After a strikeout in the 2nd and a groundout in the 3rd, the Diamondbacks’ catcher laced a line drive over the fence in right field for a three-run home run.
“He got [me] out the first two at-bats with the same fastball in,” the catcher said. “I kind of jammed myself twice so…third time through is the charm, right?”
It was his 13th homer of the season.
“I was trying to hit it really hard,” said Montero who set a single-season club record for catchers with his 44th extra base hit. “I hit it pretty good.”
He’s also been pretty good at catching would-be base stealers. Rockies catcher Chris Iannetta became Montero’s 13th victim after Iannetta’s attempted steal of second in the 2nd inning. On the season, Montero has thrown out 24 of 40 (60%) base runners.
