After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and
provide you with instant analysis. So it’s time to go
Inside the Box for
September 25, 2011: Diamondbacks 5, Giants 2
The Good:
The Diamondbacks got out the brooms and completed a three game sweep of the San Francisco Giants.
Josh Collmenter out-dueled Tim Lincecum, tossing seven strong innings and only giving up two runs on five hits.
The attendance for the game was 41,243, making the total attendance for this three game home stand the largest of the season, as 132,925 people came to Chase Field to watch the D-Backs sweep the Giants.
The Diamondbacks surpassed two million fans on their total attendance count for the season.
Paul Goldschmidt continued his success against Tim Lincecum and the Giants, he went two for four and scored a run.
Aaron Hill went one for two, drew two walks, had an RBI and scored two runs. All while raising his batting average to .328.
The Bad:
Justin Upton was beamed in the helmet by a Tim Lincecum fastball in the bottom of the first. The official word is that he was taken out for precautionary reasons. He is listed as day to day.
The Funky:
It was Star Wars day at Chase Field, and the team had photo-shopped players faces onto Star Wars characters for their at-bat pictures. I wonder how Gerardo Parra felt about being Yoda.
