Gibson named Sporting News NL Manager of the Year

Arizona Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson, who just finished
his first full season as a big league skipper, was named
National League Manager of the Year by Sporting News.
Gibson guided the Diamondbacks to a 94-68 record and a NL
West championship, just one year after the team lost 97
games.
Voting for the award was done by eleven National League
managers.
Joe Maddon of the Tampa Bay Rays won the American League
Manager of the Year Award, also announced on Monday.
