Diamondbacks claim right-hander Humberto Castellanos from Astros

The Arizona Diamondbacks claimed right-handed pitcher Humberto Castellanos from the Houston Astros.
The team’s 40-man roster is currently full with the addition, the team announced Friday.
In eight games played in 2020 (10.2 innings pitched), the reliever sported a 6.75 ERA, allowing 12 hits, eight earned runs, two home runs and five walks in his debut season. He struck out 12 batters.
Castellanos, 22, was designated for assignment by the Astros on Jan. 22 to make room for free agent signing and catcher Jason Castro.
In five games with the Astros affiliate and Triple-A Round Rock Express in 2019 (12.2 IP), Castellanos registered a 1.42 ERA, striking out 10 and allowing just two earned runs.
He spent the most time that year with the Class-A Advanced Fayetteville Woodpeckers. in 15 games, Castellanos posted a 4.91 ERA to go along with three saves and 27 strikeouts. He allowed nine earned runs and six walks over that span.
Castellanos is the latest reliever to join the organization, with right-handed Chris Devenski and southpaw Ryan Buchter recently signed as well.
