NFL Mock Draft Tracker Week 4: The usual names linked to Cardinals

Over the past seven days, we’ve added 21 new mocks to our Arizona Sports NFL Mock Draft Tracker.

Once again, cornerback is the most common position linked to the Cardinals, with three different players appearing this week on a total of 48% of all new mocks.

And once again, South Carolina’s Jaycee Horn shows up more than any other player, appearing five times.

Virginia Tech’s Caleb Farley also appears four times this week and is now linked to the Cardinals seven times. ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. released his first mock of the 2021 cycle this week, and tabbed Farley to Arizona with the 16th overall pick.

Arizona could have openings at both corner spots this offseason, with veterans Patrick Peterson and Dre Kirkpatrick both on the free-agent market. If the Cardinals decide to move on from the over-30 corners, this is the best place to find a new starter. One of the first prospects to opt out of the season, 6-2 Farley looked like a star on the 2019 tape, but he is still raw. He has played defensive back only since 2018. I could also see the Cardinals keeping an eye on the wide receivers in this class; Christian Kirk has not been consistent enough to show that he can be their No. 2 wideout alongside DeAndre Hopkins.

Farley was the first high-profile player to opt out of the 2020 season due to concerns about coronavirus, and head coach Justin Fuente could have used him. Virginia Tech ranked 107th nationally against the pass, averaging 266.0 yards allowed per game.

In 2019, Farley was a First Team All-ACC pick when he had 20 tackles, four interceptions and 12 pass breakups.

Also showing up more than once as projected targets for Arizona at No. 16 were Florida tight end Kyle Pitts and Michigan edge rusher Kwity Paye.
