ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS

Diamondbacks are getting along once again

Jun 21, 2012, 9:29 PM | Updated: 11:07 pm

Part of what defined the 2011 Arizona Diamondbacks,
besides their record, was the fact that they seemed to
genuinely enjoy playing baseball with each other.

A team that was very much greater than the sum of its
parts, the D-backs won 94 games and the NL West.

However, expectations heading into 2012 gave the season a
different outlook from the beginning, and a slow start to
the season allowed some doubt to creep in.

And with doubt comes frustration, and frustration can
bring a fractured clubhouse.

Diamondbacks president Derrick Hall, a guest on Arizona
Sports 620’s Doug and Wolf, said that’s not a concern any
longer.

“That chemistry is back, the cohesiveness of that group
down there,” Hall said. “And more importantly: they’re
having fun again.”

Winning helps.

The Diamondbacks have gone from six games below .500 on
June 1 to just one game under, and have a good shot to
eclipse the mark of mediocrity in a weekend series against
the Cubs, so yeah, it shouldn’t be a surprise that things
are much happier in D-backs land.
