The 28-year drought is finally over for the Phoenix Suns and their fans as the team finished off the Los Angeles Clippers and is set to return to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1993.
The Suns dominated the Clippers 130-103 in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals behind a 41-point effort by star Chris Paul.
Thirty-one of his points came in the second half, making for his biggest scoring half of his career — regular season and playoffs.
Paul had his best night shooting in the series making seven 3 pointers and converting on 16-of-24 shot attempts. He added 8 assists.
Devin Booker, who started Game 6 without the protective mask he began wearing in Game 3 after suffering a broken nose in Game 2, finished with 22 points on 10-of-26 shooting.
Center Deandre Ayton had another double-double before the third quarter was even over. He finished with 16 points and 17 rebounds.
It was the second series-clinching win the Suns have enjoyed this post season at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The Suns took down the Lakers in Game 6 of the first round of the playoffs on the Lakers home floor at Staples Center.
Although the floor boards looked different, the results for the Suns were similar as Phoenix never trailed in the second half of either game.
The Suns will face the winner of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks.
That series is tied at 2-2 and Game 5 is set for Thursday in Milwaukee.
