Three players from the Phoenix Mercury helped represent the Western Conference in their 117-112 victory over the Eastern Conference in Saturday’s WNBA All-Star Game in Uncasville, Connecticut.
While Minnesota Lynx star forward Maya Moore took home All-Star Game MVP honors scoring 30 points (a WNBA All-Star Game record) in the win, the West was boosted by a dominant effort in the frontcourt by Phoenix’s Brittney Griner.
Finishing second in the Western Conference scoring ledger behind Moore with 21 points in 22 minutes of action, Griner added nine rebounds and blocked three shots to help pace the West.
Griner also threw down this two-handed slam in transition in the third quarter.
Joining Griner on the Western Conference side were Mercury teammates Candice Dupree and DeWanna Bonner, who chipped in six and two points, respectively. Bonner would also add five assists.
The Mercury return to action Tuesday, July 28 at 7:00 p.m. when they host the Chicago Sky at US Airways Center.
