Welington Castillo made Safeco Park his own personnel paradise this week.

After homering in Monday night’s game, the D-backs catcher knocked out two more home runs on Wednesday to propel the team to a 8-2 win over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday afternoon.

The former Mariners catcher, who was acquired by the D-backs in the Mark Trumbo trade, reached base all five times he batted to go along with his two blasts.

His bat wasn’t the only that gave Mariners All-Star pitcher Felix Hernandez problems, though.

The D-backs pounded Hernandez for seven runs and 12 hits through 6.2 innings pitched. It was only the fourth time in the last three years that Hernandez gave up seven earned runs or more in a game.

On the flip side, D-backs left-hander Patrick Corbin pitched brilliantly in his fifth game back from Tommy John surgery.

Corbin went six innings and only gave up a single run on three hits, while striking out six batters.

Addison Reed relieved Corbin in the seventh and pitched a scoreless inning, but gave up a run in the eighth inning. His appearance marked his first with the team since being sent down to Triple-A Reno on June 22nd.

The D-backs have now won five games in a row and six of their past seven.

Here’s a look at the team’s victory, By the Numbers:

16

Patrick Corbin’s strikeout total over his past two games, which is three more than the southpaw recorded through his first three games.
