Phoenix Rising FC goalkeeper Ben Lundt was recalled by Major League Soccer’s FC Cincinnati on Friday.
FC Cincinnati sent Lundt on loan to Phoenix on May 6 and had the right to recall him at any point during the 2021 MLS regular season.
Lundt split goalkeeping duties throughout the 2021 season for the Rising with Andre Rawls, who is on loan from the Colorado Rapids. Before Wednesday’s 3-1 loss to Oakland Roots SC, Rawls started four of the previous five matches over Lundt. Lundt started nine matches for the Rising while Rawls started ten matches.
Lundt recorded four clean sheets with Phoenix, tied with Rawls. The eight clean sheets between the two goalkeepers ties Phoenix with the Tampa Bay Rowdies and El Paso Locomotive FC for the best mark in the USL Championship.
Lundt stopped 23 of 33 shots with the Rising, amounting to a 69.7% save rate. Rawls saved three more shots than Lundt and also saw 33 shots so far this season.
His record with the team was 5-3-1. The Rising won three of Lundt’s last five starts with the team.
