The Arizona Diamondbacks announced a couple of roster moves ahead of Saturday night’s game against the Seattle Mariners at Chase Field.
Right-handed pitcher Humberto Castellanos was recalled from Triple-A Reno and will be starting on the mound for the D-backs.
In a corresponding move, right-hander Matt Peacock was optioned to Reno following Friday night’s 6-5 loss to the Mariners in extra innings.
Castellanos last pitched for the Diamondbacks in a 4-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Aug. 18 at Chase Field.
The 23-year-old right-hander picked up the first win of his career in that start, a 5.1-inning performance in which he only allowed one earned run on just three hits while striking out one over 74 pitches (45 strikes).
Castellanos has posted a 2.14 ERA and struck out 13 in his nine appearances (21.0 innings pitched) for Arizona this season, the last two outings of which have been starts.
Peacock has made 35 appearances (eight starts) for the Diamondbacks in his rookie season.
The 27-year-old right-hander has a 4.90 ERA to go along with 50 strikeouts and a 1.564 WHIP over 86.1 innings of work.
Castellanos will go up against Mariners starting pitcher Marco Gonzales, with first pitch scheduled for 5:10 p.m.
