After missing the Rams’ Week 3 contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a rib injury, running back Darrell Henderson is set to return this week against the Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles head coach Sean McVay told reporters Friday.
Henderson had been a limited participant for most of the team’s practices this week.
In two games this season, Henderson has ran for 123 yards on 29 attempts while finding the end zone twice. His role within the Rams’ offense was expected to increase this year with fellow running back Cam Akers suffering a torn Achilles prior to the regular season.
Out of Memphis, Henderson was drafted by Los Angeles in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Since joining the league, he’s ran for 894 career yards and seven rushing touchdowns.
With Henderson’s absence in Week 3, the Rams relied on Sony Michel in the run game. Acquiring him from the New England Patriots this offseason following Akers’ season-ending injury, Michel led the Rams with 67 yards on 20 attempts a week ago.
Through three games this season, the Cardinals have given up 422 rush yards to their opponents, the fifth-worst in the league. Opposing offenses are currently averaging 5.4 yards per carry against Arizona’s defense.
