Ahead of the Arizona Cardinals Week 9 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, the team announced a handful of moves, including offensive lineman Rodney Hudson being activated from the injured reserve.
The starting center missed the Cardinals’ last three games after going down with rib and shoulder injuries in the team’s 17-10 win over the 49ers in Week 5.
Additionally, defensive lineman J.J. Watt (shoulder) and Rashard Lawrence (calf) have been placed on injured reserve.
The Cardinals had maintained hope that Watt would be able to avoid a stint on injured reserve, but pulled the trigger Saturday.
“The hope is his shoulder feels better, he can strengthen it and that we can potentially move forward without any surgery or putting him on IR,” general manager Steve Keim said to Arizona Sports’ Burns & Gambo on Friday.
The Cardinals also signed tight end David Wells to the active roster from the practice squad. Wells was signed to the practice squad on Oct. 20 after spending time with the Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons earlier in the season.
Wide receiver Greg Dortch and cornerback Kevin Peterson were elevated to the active roster from the practice squad as standard elevations, while defensive lineman Josh Mauro and linebacker Joe Walker were elevated to the active roster as COVID-19 replacements.
