The Arizona Coyotes made a couple of roster moves ahead of Friday night’s game at the Anaheim Ducks.
Forwards Michael Carcone and Blake Speers have been recalled from the Tucson Roadrunners, the team’s AHL affiliate.
The move comes after Coyotes forwards Lawson Crouse and Jay Beagle were placed under the NHL’s COVID-19 protocols on Thursday, followed by F Alex Galchenyuk on Friday.
PHNX Sports’ Craig Morgan reported on Thursday that some of Arizona’s staff were included as well.
Carcone, 25, has totaled four goals and seven assists for 11 points — fourth on the team — to go along with 33 penalty minutes in 20 games for the Roadrunners this season. He is also fourth on the team in shots with 62.
The forward has registered 72-80-151 and 262 PIM in 305 career games in the AHL. Last season, Carcone’s first in Tucson, he recorded 15-10-25 with 18 PIM in 35 appearances. He signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Coyotes in July.
Speers, 24, has scored one goal and notched one assist (two points) in addition to compiling 20 penalty minutes for the Roadrunners on the 2021-22 season. He has posted 20-19-39 and 88 PIM in 171 career AHL contests.
Speers was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the third round (No. 67 overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft and made three appearances for the team in 2016-17. He was acquired by the Coyotes in the same trade that brought Taylor Hall to Arizona in 2019.
