The Arizona Cardinals activated linebackers Markus Golden and Devon Kennard, cornerback Breon Borders and offensive lineman D.J. Humphries from the reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday.
Despite all four players missing Sunday’s contest, the Cardinals were still able to pull off a 25-22 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
Usual right tackle Kelvin Beachum filled in for Humpries at left tackle after not playing the position for three years, while OL Josh Jones started at RT.
Additionally, Arizona also signed cornerback Bashaud Breeland to the practice squad and released CB Isaiah Johnson on Tuesday.
The signing comes after the team worked Breeland out last Monday and agreed to a deal with him, as first reported by NFL insider Josina Anderson.
But upon arrival, the corner tested positive for COVID-19, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
In over 13 games played with the Minnesota Vikings in 2021, Breeland recorded 63 tackles, two interceptions, five passes defensed and two forced fumbles.
Before his time with the Vikings, Breeland also played for the Washington Football Team (2014-17), the Green Bay Packers (2018) and the Kansas City Chiefs (2019-20).
The Cardinals’ cornerback situation is still up in the air, as rookie Marco Wilson and veteran Robert Alford’s status going forward remains unknown.
Wilson suffered a shoulder injury in the loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Christmas Day, while Alford hasn’t played since Week 14 after being placed on the injured reserve list with a pectoral injury.
Alford is eligible to come off the IR ahead of Week 18’s regular-season finale against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
