The Arizona Diamondbacks found themselves in a familiar position early in Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Then they found themselves in another familiar position to end it.

The Dodgers jumped out to an early lead — scoring twice in both the second and third innings — and cruised for the rest of the game en route to an 8-5 win in front of 38,374 fans at Chase Field.

Here’s a closer look at the Diamondbacks’ loss, by the numbers:

1

D-backs reliever J.J. Putz had been the lone member of Arizona’s pitching staff to not allow a run this season, but that changed when he issued a bases-loaded walk to Hanley Ramirez in the eighth inning for his first allowed run in 2014.

1

The D-backs have won just one home game this season, their second game at Chase Field against the San Francisco Giants. Arizona is 1-5 at Chase Field this season and 1-7 in home games, as the D-backs were the home team for both games in Australia.

3

Arizona third baseman Martin Prado struck out three times in Saturday’s game — each of them looking at a called third strike.

3

The Dodgers scored in every inning but three — the first, fifth and seventh. They scored two runs in the second and third innings, and one run in the fourth, sixth, eighth and ninth.

4

The Diamondbacks have lost all four of their games against the Dodgers this year, losing by a combined 13 runs.

5

D-backs starter Wade Miley has lasted just five innings in both of his starts against the Dodgers this season, both losses.

10

Diamondbacks hitters struck out more than 10 times for the second consecutive game against the Dodgers.

26

Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez has killed the D-backs throughout his career, and Saturday was no different. He belted his 26th career home run against Arizona to give Los Angeles a 4-0 run in the third inning.

299

Diamondbacks left fielder Mark Trumbo drove in the 299th run of his career with a bases-loaded, two-run double in the ninth inning to pull the D-backs within three runs.
