Reed’s blown save costs D-backs in Rockies’ walk-off win: By The Numbers

Losses like Thursday’s in Denver must be difficult at this juncture of an already long — really, really long — season for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Or maybe they’re calloused at this point. Who knows?
Either way, Thursday’s was the kind that should hurt. The D-backs held a 6-1 lead over the Colorado Rockies in the sixth, a 6-3 lead in the seventh and a 6-5 lead in the ninth.
But Coors Field is basically the place to drum up a comeback. And the hosting Rockies knew just had to do that one night after scoring 15 runs against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Vidal Nuno once again failed to get a win decision in a D-backs uniform, but it wasn’t really anyone else’s fault Thursday.
The D-backs starter allowed three runs on eight hits over 5.1 innings pitched.
Ultimately, though, it was closer Addison Reed who was the decision-getter and it was an L that he received, after blowing a save opportunity in the ninth inning and seeing the Rockies walk off victors.
Here’s a look at the D-backs’ 91st loss of the season, by the numbers:
2
Former Rockies utility man Jordan Pacheco managed some revenge on his former team Thursday, going 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and a run scored.
6
Reed’s blown save was his sixth of the season while the loss was his seventh. He has a 4.40 ERA on the year and has saved 31 of 37 save opportunities.
9
At 62-91, the D-backs have nine games left. They would have to lose out to suffer triple-digit losses for the second time in franchise history. But if they drop six of their last nine, they’ll tie their loss total from their inaugural season, 97 — a mark which is also the second worst in club history.
25
The Rockies caught the D-backs in the NL West with Thursday’s win, putting them 25 games back in the division. The teams now share last place — 5th — in the Dodgers-owned West.
111
The D-backs were swinging early in the count Thursday, seeing just 111 pitches over the course of the game while their opponents saw 30 more.
