Phoenix Rising FC’s match away to New Mexico United on Saturday has been postponed, USL Championship announced on Friday.

The league added that the reasoning for the postponement was due to COVID-19, as “multiple covered persons” within PRFC are “unable to participate” per USL’s protocols.

Information on the time and date for the rescheduled game will be announced once confirmed.

As of now, Phoenix Rising’s next match away to Harford Athletic FC on May 28 is still scheduled for 4 p.m.

There has been a recent COVID-19 outbreak among some Western Conference teams, as multiple games have already been postponed due to covered persons within clubs being unable to participate.

Saturday’s match between San Antonio FC and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC has been postponed because of positive cases within SAFC’s camp.

May 14’s contest between San Diego Loyal SC and Colorado Springs was also postponed due to multiple positive tests among Switchbacks’ covered persons list.

The postponement could actually be a blessing in disguise for Phoenix, as the club is currently dealing with a multitude of injuries that have partially contributed to the team’s recent run of form.

Following a perfect 6-0-0 April, Rising has since gone 1W-0D-3L in all competitions, including a 3-0 defeat away to Los Angeles Galaxy II, a 2-0 road loss in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 32 to Sacramento Republic FC and most recently, a 5-1 thrashing at home to Tampa Bay Rowdies.

The likes of Aodhan Quinn, Kevon Lambert, James Musa and Channing Chasten have all missed time in May due to injury.
