Kyler Murray was the first overall pick selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2019 NFL draft.

Fast-forward three years and PFF’s Trevor Sikkema still has the Cardinals taking Murray first overall in his 2019 NFL re-draft.

This one was easy. Despite picking Josh Rosen in the first round the year prior, the Cardinals needed a quarterback, and Murray, coming off a Heisman Trophy-winning season, was an easy choice. Three years later, it still remains the correct selection. Murray has only gotten better as his NFL career has progressed. He earned an 84.0 overall grade and an 88.1 passing grade in 2021, both top-10 marks among quarterbacks

The Cardinals found their quarterback of the future, the goal of the top pick in the draft. He remains part of the franchise’s long-term plans, as the two sides are working on a contract extension this summer.

Murray was the 2019 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year in and made the Pro Bowl each of the past two seasons.

Murray is averaging 3,826 passing yards and 23 passing touchdowns per season in his career.

As a dual-threat quarterback, Murray is just as lethal on the ground as he is in the air.

On the ground, Murray is averaging 595 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns per season.

Murray will have the challenge of leading the offense without star wideout DeAndre Hopkins to start 2022, as the receiver is set to miss the team’s first six games of the season due after violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.
