Blair Walsh receives encouragement from first-graders, visits to say thanks

Jan 14, 2016, 8:00 AM | Updated: 11:05 am

Not many athletes had a worse Sunday than Blair Walsh. The Minnesota Vikings kicker missed a 27-yard game-winning field goal that is the next chapter for a tortured fanbase.

Walsh’s miss sent the internet into a frenzy and the Seattle Seahawks into the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.

While it’s safe to assume that Walsh would not be receiving kind words from most after missing the kick, a first-grade teacher in Minnesota thought it was a great time to teach her students.

Judie Offerdahl had the children write and draw for Walsh even though some of the students were unaware of the player or his nightmarish miss.

Messages from the kids include “For Blair Walsh. Keep on trying. Puppys are cute,” and “You are handsome. … Don’t worry. It’s just a game.”

The brilliance of the children putting the moment into proper perspective is something and it reached Walsh, who will visit the class Thursday.

UPDATE:

It appears that visit has gone pretty well.
