Rich Rodriguez claims he doesn’t know about Pokemon Go

Jul 14, 2016, 2:06 PM | Updated: 2:09 pm

Rich Rodriguez took on all the tough questions at his Pac-12 Media Day availability on Thursday.

He was honest about the quarterback battle between Anu Solomon and Brandon Dawkins. He discussed the changes he made to his defensive coaching staff. But as coaches do when they don’t want to reveal too much about their upcoming team, Rodriguez attempted to play dumb when asked if he knew what Pokemon Go was all about.

“I had no idea what the hell Pokemon Go was ’til the other day,” Rodriguez said. “I think my son was telling me. He’s an 18-year-old. I know there’s a lot of people that are walking around like this and bumping into each other, so it’s kind of dangerous.”

The reporter who asked the question then boasted about saving Rodriguez from a Growlithe near the podium.

“Thank you, whatever that is,” Rodriguez said. “Keep your eyes on the road and where you’re walking, alright?”

Except we don’t believe RichRod doesn’t know what Pokemon Go is about. His recruiting staff has been busy finding Pokemon about campus, after all.

Plus, all we need to do is go back into the photo archives to see that Rodriguez is very much familiar with the latest fad.
