Arizona Cardinals QB Logan Thomas preparing to start vs. Washington

TEMPE, Ariz. — Plans change, often at a moment’s notice.

The plan laid out before Arizona Cardinals quarterback Logan Thomas, in this his rookie season, was to have him be no more than a spectator.

In other words, watch and learn, kid.

It’s now become, potentially, play and perform.

Should neither Carson Palmer (shoulder) nor Drew Stanton (concussion) improve this week, then Thomas, whom the Cardinals drafted as a project in the fourth round out of Virginia Tech, may get his first NFL start.

“I’m comfortable with Logan once he gets all the snaps and all the reps that we’ll be able to put out a plan for him to be successful,” head coach Bruce Arians said during his weekly Monday press briefing.

Thomas was thrust into the spotlight after Stanton was hit and driven into the ground by Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller early in the third quarter of the 41-20 road defeat.

Stanton sustained a concussion on the play and is going through the league’s concussion protocol, leaving his availability for this week against very much up in the air.
