A-Rod doing good things for Miami Boys and Girls Club

Dec 1, 2016, 9:10 AM

Alex Rodriguez has had, shall we say, a controversial baseball career.

The slugger’s 22-year career has included 3,115 hits and 696 home runs, which rank as the fourth-most of all-time behind only Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth.

He was released by the New York Yankees in mid-August, likely ending his playing days. But since then, the man they call “A-Rod” has been involved in broadcasting, serving as part of FOX’s coverage of the MLB postseason.

He’s also engaged in charitable endeavors.

Rodgriguez learned to play baseball at the Boys and Girls Club of Miami when he was just nine years of age, and now he’s showing his gratitude by donating proceeds from his clothing line to the organization.

Wednesday night, Rodriguez posted another tweet with a video showing himself and helpers (daughters Natasha and Ella) packing up shirts to fans who have ordered them to help the cause.

Rodriguez is donating 100 percent of net profits from the sale of the shirts and he’s personally matching all donations.

A-Rod may have rubbed a lot of people the wrong way during his career, but he’s doing good work as he prepares for life after baseball.

Well done, Alex!
