Break up the D-backs.

OK, maybe that’s a little premature, but after rallying for a win over the Chicago Cubs Wednesday, the Arizona Diamondbacks played maybe their most complete game of the season, winning 5-2 in the finale of a four-game series.

Here’s a closer look at the D-backs’ win, by the numbers:

4

D-backs rookie right-hander Mike Bolsinger allowed just one run (and it was unearned) and four hits in 6.2 innings of work Thursday. The effort was just the fourth quality start for the Diamondbacks this season, and first by Bolsinger, who was making just his second big league start.

4-16

After Bolsinger’s first win as a big leaguer, Diamondbacks starters are now 4-16 on the season. The rotation’s ERA also dipped below 7.00 (6.78) after the 26-year-old’s performance.

2

Arizona catcher Miguel Montero drove in two runs Thursday — one on a double in the first inning and the other on a single in the eighth. It was Montero’s third game with two or more RBI this season. He had only six such games (he played in 116) in 2013.

7

By notching their 7th win of the year, the Diamondbacks are no longer alone as the owners of the smallest win total in Major League Baseball. Thursday’s triumph tied them with the Cubs and the Houston Astros, who play the Oakland Athletics later on Thursday night.

0-for-4

Roger Kieschnick’s D-back debut didn’t go too well. Just recalled from Triple-A Reno earlier in the day to take the roster spot of the injured Mark Trumbo, Kieschnick went 0-for-4 at the plate and struck out three times. He also committed an error in left field in the first inning.

.412

Paul Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with an RBI single Thursday. In the four games at the “Friendly Confines,” Goldschmidt hit .412 (7-for-17) with two runs batted in. The All-Star first baseman has hit safely in 22 of 25 games this year.

4(again)

Thursday’s game was only the fourth of the year where the Diamondbacks scored first and went on to win.
