PHOENIX — The Arizona Rattlers will defend their Arena Football League Championship with an Arena Bowl rematch against the Philadelphia Soul on March 15, 2014 at the US Airways Center.

The back-to-back champs will host their first three games at home with Spokane and Jacksonville visiting the Snake Pit.

The Rattlers became the first team since the Tampa Bay Storm in 1995-96 to repeat as AFL Champions and are the third team in AFL history to do so.

The 18-game schedule includes three games against the conference rival San Jose SaberCats, two on the road and one at home. The final two home games will be between the Rattlers and the two new teams to the AFL, the Los Angeles Kiss and the Portland Thunder.

Rattlers quarterback Nick Davila will be back once again to lead one of the AFL’s most explosive offenses. Davila has averaged over 110 touchdowns and fewer than 15 interceptions in each of his four seasons with the Rattlers. The offense held a 58.8% third-down success rate last year, a league best.

On the defensive side, the Rattlers led the league in forcing turnovers with 41 interceptions (league high) and 16 recovered fumbles (5th best). Defensive back Virgil Gray set a franchise-record with 15 interceptions last season, adding 9.5 tackles in the Arena Bowl and a crucial pick to secure the victory. Gray has since joined the Pittsburgh Power and a rematch with his former team comes on April 19 at the US Airways Center.
