The Diamondbacks made some roster moves on Friday, recalling OF Gregor Blanco from Triple-A Reno while optioning pitcher Braden Shipley to the Aces.
To make room on the 40-man roster for Blanco, the D-backs transferred pitcher Steve Hathaway to the 60-day disabled list.
In six games with Reno, the 33-year-old Blanco batted .391 with one double, three RBI and four stolen bases.
Blanco is a career .258 hitter, with 21 home runs, 210 RBI and 101 stolen bases to his credit. He has also posted a .993 fielding percentage since 2012, which is the fourth-best mark among NL outfielders in that time.
The veteran of eight MLB seasons joined the D-backs as a minor league free agent signing in March, having before spent time with the Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Braves and, most recently, the San Francisco Giants.
Shipley heads back to Reno after making one start for the D-backs Thursday, in which he allowed three earned runs in four innings. Hathaway has been on the DL since March 31 with left shoulder inflammation.
