To sum up Monday night’s game: J.D. Martinez’s bat was on fire, Robbie Ray’s pitching was immaculate and the TV ratings were immense.

Despite Labor Day weekend usually being dominated by the kickoff of college football, the Arizona Diamondbacks managed to capture the most views in the Valley this weekend.

Monday, the D-backs showed no mercy against the Los Angeles Dodgers, winning 13-0 and catching the attention of many with the clobbering they were giving the best team in baseball.

It was the most-watched sporting event in Phoenix for the Labor Day weekend with a 5.1 rating (96,395 Phoenix households) for the evening. It was the most-watched D-backs game of the season and was 16 percent higher than the previous season-best rating, a 4.4 against the Dodgers on Aug. 30 and Jul. 5.

The game peaked at a 6.3 rating (119,076 Phoenix households) and from 5-8:30 p.m., FOX Sports Arizona was the most watched TV network in Phoenix.

Other sporting events this weekend that rivaled the D-backs game Monday included the college football games between Michigan and Florida, which had the second-highest rating (4.4), as well as the game between Alabama and Florida State (4.3).

The Monday game was also the highest-rated D-backs game on FOX Sports Arizona since April 20, 2016 (5.4) when they played the San Francisco Giants.
