In the month of April, Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zack Godley was playing some solid baseball.

He went 4-1 with a 3.81 ERA and 1.41 WHIP, striking out 28 in the process.

Godley wasn’t the only bright spot on the team either. The D-backs rolled in April, going 18-7.

Fast forward to the month of May and it’s a whole different story.

After leading the NL West by a big margin, the D-backs have gone 5-21 in the month of May and the hot start from Godley has seemingly burned out as his 4-1 start has now ballooned to a 4-4 record.

Here’s a look at the pitcher’s month of May for the D-backs:

0-3

The righty has not won in the month of May, going 0-3. He’s lost once at Chase Field and twice on the road during that span.

4.53

Godley holds a 4.53 ERA as of Wednesday. In his last start against the Milwaukee Brewers, he had a 16.20 ERA with six earned runs and just three strikeouts.

6

Wednesday marked Godley’s worst earned run total in 2018, giving up six to the Brewers.

3.1

Godley had his shortest outing Wednesday, staying on the bump for just 3.1 innings. Before that, his lowest inning count was 4.0.

4

The 28-year-old has given up at least four hits in every game he’s started in May. In three out of his five starts in the month, he’s allowed at least four earned runs.

65

Out of a total of 96 qualifying starting pitchers in MLB, Godley finds himself at No. 65 in ERA. In comparison, fellow D-backs starters Patrick Corbin and Zack Greinke came in at No. 16 and No. 49, respectively.
