The talk of the town regarding the Arizona Diamondbacks has been the offense.

They have been the worst offensive baseball club in the majors, breaking some impressive records along the way.

That made Friday an odd jolt in the system for a batting order that desperately needed one.

The D-backs hit five home runs in the first five innings of their series opener against the Miami Marlins Friday night.

The first of eight runs would actually not come from the long ball. David Peralta’s single brought home Daniel Descalso in the opening inning for the game’s first run.

On his next plate appearance the next inning, Descalso would hit his seventh home run of the season, bringing home himself and Jarrod Dyson to make it 3-0.

In the third, solo opposite-field homers from Jake Lamb and Peralta put the score at 5-0.

John Ryan Murphy decided he would get in on the fun, continuing his impressive form at the plate with a two-run shot to score Lamb for a seven-run lead.

The homer marked Murphy’s eighth of the season, tying Peralta and Nick Ahmed for the second-most on the team despite entering Friday’s action with only 75 at-bats.

Ketel Marte would homer in the fifth as well, his second of the year that had the scoreboard reading 8-0.

The five homers marked the most by the D-backs at Chase Field since May 17, 2014, against the Dodgers, which was also five.

Marte would smash his second homer of the game in the eighth inning, making it six total for the D-backs, tying a franchise record for the most in one game.
