The Arizona Diamondbacks traded for New York Mets right fielder Patrick Kivlehan, the team announced Thursday.

He was dealt for cash considerations and his contract was selected from Triple-A Reno.

In order to make room on the 40-man roster, outfielder Jarrod Dyson was moved to the 60-day disabled list. With the move, the team now has 34 players on the active roster.

Kivlehan, 28, has spent time with Triple-A Louisville (Cincinnati Reds) and Triple-A Las Vegas (Mets) in 2018. With the two squads, the outfielder, who also has seen time in the infield, hit .298, slugging .543 with an OBP of .359.

In 113 games, Kivlehan has 29 doubles, four triples, 20 homers, 71 RBIs and 62 runs scored. He also has 32 walks over that span. Since July 20 (38 games), Kivlehan led the minors in extra-base hits (34), total bases (118) and OPS (1.294).

At the big league level, Kivlehan has played in 123 games between the San Diego Padres and the Reds. He’s hit .206 with five doubles, a triple, 10 home runs and 28 RBI. He’s played in the outfield as well as first and third base.

Dyson was sent to the 10-day DL back on July 5 with what manager Torey Lovullo called a “lower core injury.”

He is expected to have surgery Tuesday.

Lovullo was told Dyson will be ready for spring training.

Dyson was batting .189 (39-for-206) with a .282 OBP and slugging .257. He compiled four doubles, two triples, two homers, 12 RBI and a number of big defensive plays in 67 games before going down with the injury.
