D-backs option RHPs Jimmie Sherfy and Joey Krehbiel

The Arizona Diamondbacks continued whittling down their spring roster on Friday by optioning relievers Jimmie Sherfy and Joey Krehbiel to Triple-A Reno.
Outfielder Rob Refsnyder, catcher Tyler Heineman and outfielder Andrew Aplin were additionally assigned to minor league camp.
Sherfy pitched 7.0 innings in seven appearances this spring, allowing seven hits and four earned runs. He also walked four batters while striking out seven in that span.
The 27-year-old right-hander has appeared in 26 games for the D-backs over the past two seasons and has an ERA of 1.65 with 17 strikeouts and 12 walks over 27.0 innings.
Krehbiel, also a right-hander, allowed five hits and an earned run over 5.1 innings and six spring appearances. He played in two games for the D-backs last season, going 3.0 combined frames and allowing a hit and no runs while walking two.
Arizona has 42 players left in big league camp with the regular season two weeks out. The Diamondbacks open the year on Thursday, March 28, in Los Angeles against the Dodgers.
